Our "Creative Lending Library" is one of our most exciting elements to this entire endeavor.
The lending library is a collection of tools for just about any creative process you can imagine. Each tool will be purchased in a quantity that will allow for an entire class to participate (roughly 30 people). Tools can be used by the instructors at no cost. Lending Library Tools can also be used by individuals who come in for Open Studio and just want to try out a creative process before purchasing the necessary equipment. The idea behind it is that ANYONE should be able to come in and teach a class in something they love, or test something out without having to invest large amounts in tools and product.
You never know if your first class will fill up or if you will only have a few people show up. This can make it difficult to know how much you will need to purchase in consumables and tools. Our goal is to be able to have whatever tools may be needed on hand, but also have a fund for purchasing consumable materials if needed, and having the instructor pay only for what they actually use, rather than the bulk amount purchased. Doing this will also allow us to have some consumable stock on hand for future classes in the same craft as well as fundraiser projects and not for profit projects.
Any amount helps with building this library. Some tools are very expensive, some are not. On average, it cost about $1000 to provide enough tools for any given class, however, some are much more.
The tools that are for the most requested classes will be what is purchased first, but there are many tools that can be used for a wide variety of classes and "general purpose" creativity.
